There’s a law that was passed in 1999, that made it a requirement for service stations in california to provide free water, compressed air and an air pressure gauge to customers who purchase fuel. In states that do not (like michigan), some gas stations may voluntarily offer free air, but most do not.
Now, many gas stations only provide paid air pumps, which would cost you $1 to $2 per fill. Generally, free air is offered in most tire shops, car repair stations and bike shops. The only spots on the map in that state are for bicycles.
